The Candler Foundry

COURSE INFORMATION

Course Dates: May 6 - May 27, 2026

Course Time: Wednesdays, 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM ET (Online)

Course Description

Should a Christian be a patriot? Is there a difference between patriotism and nationalism? How can I love my country when it seems to have forgotten the ideas on which it was built? On the nation’s America’s 250th anniversary, and a time of deep division, this course offers new ways to think about faith, democracy and nationhood. Drawing on a range of iconic and lesser-known thinkers, it confronts the problem of Christian nationalism with the patriotism of peace.
