The Gospel of Luke: A New and Old Story

The Candler Foundry in partnership with Dunwoody UMC

Course Information:

Course Dates: January 12-February 2, 2022 (4 sessions)

Course Time: Wednesdays 7:00-8:30 PM ET hybrid

Course Description:

In this four-week course, we look at how Luke draws on the narrative of the Old Testament and uses it to shape the gospel story. Elements of the new story include how Luke crafts the character of Jesus as savior of the entire world and how Luke thematically brings heaven and earth together in partnership, particularly through the role of the Holy Spirit. Finally, Luke's story allows us to better comprehend the believing community Luke’s gospel envisions and also to find the inspiration to create it in our own midst.

For more information, please email our Coordinator of Courses in the Community, Damellys Sacriste at candlerfoundry@emory.edu.

Course Updates:

Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the first two class sessions will be done solely on Zoom. More updates will be posted on this page regarding this matter as the Dunwoody UMC staff make decisions regarding the health and safety of the congregation.
