The Gospel of Mark: A Brief Beginning

Course Time: Sundays 6:00-7:30 PM ET online
Course Description:
In this course, we look at how Mark’s gospel lays the foundation for all the other gospels, particularly Matthew and Luke. Over eight weeks, we examine how Mark uses various literary techniques and themes to communicate who Jesus truly is and therefore who the community who follows him is.

Meet the Instructor: Dr. Elizabeth Arnold
Post Doctoral Fellow at The Candler Foundry
Elizabeth "Ebby" Arnold is the post-doctoral fellow for The Candler Foundry. She holds a PhD in New Testament from Emory University and her dissertation focused on the wilderness in Luke-Acts. In The Candler Foundry, she teaches Courses in the Community as well as Candler School of Theology. Ebby is currently creating Candler Foundry's Foundations in Faith and Leadership, an on-line certificate program for community- and church-based theological education. Her research areas include the literary interpretation of scripture, humor and emotion in the Bible, and the intersection of the church and the academy.
