Women in the Hebrew Bible

Course Dates:

Course Dates: January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14 (6 sessions)

Course Time: Mondays, 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM ET

Course Description:

This course is a very scaled down version of my semester long course taught at Episcopal Divinity School on Women and the Hebrew Bible. Since we are a wide and varied audience, we will first talk about the different ways of reading the bible and reflect on how we individually read it. We will then situate women in their historical and geographical settings, getting a sense of the laws they labored under. We will then tackle some key female characters in different sections of the biblical texts. Students should have a copy of the bible on hand during sessions. They should be a translation from the original ancient languages.
